On Thursday, May 31st, Menzies started the passenger services and ground handling operations for Spirit Airlines at their newest location Minneapolis, Minnesota (MSP) with four daily flights. Spirit Airlines is an ultra low cost carrier operating in the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and South America. The opening of MSP is part of their strategy of growing their network in the United States, as they take delivery of a number of additional Airbus A-320 aircraft in the coming years.

Menzies has added forty staff to their present workforce in MSP, which now has over 100 employees at the station. In addition, the new business now gives the opportunity to offer full ground handling services in MSP, as Spirit is their first passenger handling contract.

Menzies has handled Sun Country Airlines Hub Operations in MSP since 2005, along with other services for Iceland Air, Allegiant and Vision Airways.
